EVERYDAY MAKE UP ROUTINE FOR SPRING





As per usual, spring is always late in London but that has never stopped me from pretending it is spring and freezing in my bomber jacket because I refuse to wear coats. It's not a bright move, I know. Anyway, I like to go a bit more au naturel and light in the make up department. 

Many days I skip foundation altogether as my skin isn't ridiculously bad and I'm trying to reduce my pores. If I decide to wear a bit of foundation though, I always go for my MAC Pro Long Wear foundation as it has a very natural finish and it stays on the whole day. 

For brows I use Benefit's Goof Proof. This is what makes all the difference for me, filling in my eyebrows honestly changes my whole face and makes me look more awake and put together. For my eyes I go ver simple and only use Benefit's They'Re Real Mascara to open up my very sleepy eyes. 

Finally, I use Sleek's bronzer from this bronzer/highlighter duo in Medium 885 to define my face and Bobbi Brown's Shimmer Brick Compact in Pink on my cheekbones and under my brows - I only use a tiny bit of highlighter as I don't want it to be too bright and dramatic. Finally, I use Essence's blush in Be Flowerful to add a pop of colour to my face. I have had this blush for literally forever, probably about 5 years so I probably should get a new one because I'm not a big fan of germs. It looks less bright on skin than it does in the packaging, and it actually is quite a nice shade for spring.

I rarely use a lipstick for every day wear, I just apply some lip balm  (because my lips are D Y I N G) - my favourite is Vaseline Rosy Lips.

This whole routine takes me about 10 min, which means that I don't need to wake up ridiculously early. What's your every day make up routine?

MY WORKOUT ROUTINE


The gym is a scary place... I know, trust me. Walking into that massive room filled with weird-looking machines and super toned and muscly people who seem to own the place is very scary. Until you actually go.

After the new year I started going to the gym (oh, what a surprise) and working out properly. Before I exercised fairly often but that limited to me going on the treadmill or constrainer for about 20 min and then calling it a day. Now I properly use the gym and I (sort of) know what I'm doing, so I thought I would share with you my workout routine or what I do most days. Obviously I do change it from time to time to keep it a bit more interesting, but that's what I've been doing recently.

Cardio


I always start with cardio, whether that is by running on the treadmill, going on the cross-trainer or both. I usually do around 30-45 min of cardio overall and then I'll go on the rowing machine for about 10 min, but sometimes less if I've gone too hardcore on the treadmill. 

Glutes

Also known as butt, this is something I never skip just because currently mine is pretty much non-existent. I start with the leg presser and I do 3 sets of 20 reps with 24 kg, I then go on the matts and do as many squats as I can holding a weight of 4 kg.

Abs

Oh, abs... maybe someday I actually get some. But for now I'll just keep working them out. I start by doing 4 sets of 20 reps on the abs cruncher, followed by two sets of 35 russian twists with a weight of 3-4 kg. I sometimes also do three sets of 10 sit ups, but only when I'm feeling like I own the world.

Arms

The rowing machine works out my shoulders and since my arms/shoulders are the weakest part of my body I'm pretty much dead after rowing for 10 minutes. But it's all about pushing yourself and going the extra mile. At first I was trying to use weights but I never knew what to do with them so I would end up giving up. Now I use.... machines. I would try to name them but I legit have no idea what they are and I barely know how they work, but I do know that my arms hurt the following morning so I guess it works?



I obviously adjust my workout depending on how busy I am or how tired - so for example if I can't get to the gym until 7PM I'll spend less time exercising than if I go at 5PM. So that's what I do when I have a good workout day, which usually happens at least three times a week.

I am honestly so proud of myself for sticking to my workouts for more than two weeks, it's never happened before. Have you been exercising much lately?

HOW TO UNWIND AFTER A LONG DAY




Now that days don’t seem to finish at 4PM anymore I start working longer hours as it seems like later is earlier - if that makes any sense. This means that I usually get home significantly later and sometimes it can be hard to unwind and relax to be full of energy the following day. It’s important to take time at the end of the day to clear your head and let your brain (and your body) breath after a long day of work or school. 

Before, when I got home, all I used to do was go on my laptop and watch YouTube videos for hours or a movie, have dinner and then watch some more videos before going to bed. But that didn’t help me destress or relax at all, if something it kept my brain awake and made it harder to fall asleep and relax. 

Now, whilst I still watch TV shows quite often (I am obsessed with Scandal at the moment),  I try to tone it down a bit and limit myself to one or two episodes and usually I have them in the background whilst I’m doing something else (i.e. whilst I take my make up off, clean my room, get ready for bed, etc). Here are my favourite ways to unwind after a tiring day.

Cooking


I find cooking quite therapeutic personally and even though sometimes I feel like I’m too tired to be bothered to cook something, I’m always happy when I do it and get to enjoy a home-cooked warm meal for dinner. I find the process of chopping vegetables, or making my plate look pretty so relaxing. Maybe I’m weird, but you should definitley try it. 

Skincare


There’s something about taking my make up off, using a soft scrub and maybe even a face mask that makes me feel purified, like my whole body has been cleansed instead of just my face. I love to try different masks, specially if they are peel-off masks - it’s so satisfying! I really want to try this black peel-off one that’s advertised all over Instagram, it looks painful but it also looks like it takes all the dirt in the skin away! 

Yoga


I don't do yoga regularly whatsoever, specially because I kind of suck at it but sometimes doing some exercise is exactly what I need at the end of the day and I'm not really feeling the treadmill. I find yoga clears my mind and relaxes me as it stops me from thinking about all the things I'm stressing out about during the day. I'm not a pro at all so I just go on YouTube and search for a short video.

Writing

When there's something specific that's bothering me or it's making days longer or more dreadful than usual I find that writing about it helps. Even if no one else is going to read it, it simply feels relieving to get it out.

EARLY SPRING ASOS HAUL





Spring is my favourite season - yes, I know I probably say that at the beginning of each season but let’s pretend I actually mean it. I guess it’s because after a cold, dry and dark winter the thought of sunshine, colourful flowers and slightly longer and warmer days brings me so much happiness. 

I also love dressing for spring, I am more than ready to ditch all my thick coats, blanket scarves and boots and show off my bomber jackets, my thinner jumpers and my brand new sunglasses. I also love that my outfit is no longer hidden under a thick layer of black fabric - I spend 5 min choosing my outfit every morning for something. 

Something that goes hand in hand with my shopping addiction is the one and only ASOS, I don’t remember the last time I physically walked into a store to buy something. I recently ordered a few things and I could not be happier with what I’ve got. 



The sole reason as to why I placed the order in the first placed was because I needed a belt, and I actually needed it. I had lived without one ever since I moved to London but I guess I just got fed up with dealing with having to pull up my jeans every 3 second. I had been wanting one like this forever but the ones I found were either too expensive or not exactly what I was looking for. So when I saw this one was on sale for £6 I could not say no. 

Since spring means more sunny days (kind of…) I decided to get a new pair of sunglasses. For the past one or two years I have been using my Quay sunglasses non-stop, I can’t take them off. But because I’ve used them so much during summer, they are a bit scratched (pro tip: don’t keep your sunnies loose in your bag if you often go to the beach, they’re gonna get scratched) and I do really like to be able to see. So since the model I have is not available anymore I got these, which are very similar but are only £10, so quite a bargain if you ask me. 

And because spring wouldn’t be spring without flowers I got this beautiful mesh top with embroidery - which I am absolutely in love with. It is a size too small but it was the only one available and it kind of fits. I love that it comes with a top to wear underneath but it would also look wonderful with a black bralette underneath

Finally, I also got a jumper because whether I like to admit it or not spring in London is more like a slightly warmer winter and jumpers are still very much needed. I branched out a bit and got something that’s not black, grey or brown… be proud. I really like this baby pink and I think it’ll be great for spring with a pair of black jeans and trainers. Oh and my new sunnies, how fab would that outfit look?

And that’s all I’ve got for now, and hopefully for a while because my bank account needs to adjust… have you been doing some damage lately?

HOW TO LOOK FAB NO MATTER WHAT



We are all different, and that's precisely what makes us special and interesting. However, this is something we can easily forget when we scroll through Instagram and admire all those beautiful celebs and models in stunning outfits, they all look incredible and we often wonder how they do it. Let me tell you a secret: it's all about choosing the pieces that flatter YOU. 

You might absolutely love culottes but if your body is anything like mine you will have probably realised that there is no way you can pull it off. I recently took Leslie Friedman's e-course The Ultimate #STYLE E-Course. Leslie is an Image Consultant so she does know A LOT about how to look your best and how to style what's already in your wardrobe. 

The course consists of over 6 hours of videos and more than 20 lessons on a wide variety of topics - from finding out what body type or skin-tone you have to how to style both clothes and jewellery. A particular section I absolutely loved was when she spoke about how to flatter petite figures, as this is something I constantly struggle with. It was so interesting to see how small changes in my attire can completely change how I look. It's so cool to see how small details I would never even think of, such as necklines, can make a look go from average to amazing. 

My favourite lesson wasn't even about clothes though, it was about hair. I always go through phases with my hair, some times I love it and some times I hate it. I also used to struggle a lot with finding hairstyles that suited me, well not anymore. I am telling you guys, this e-course has solved so many of my daily problems and, in a way, it has pretty much changed my life.

The course goes in so much detail, it covers anything that could possibly be covered but at the same time it is quite straight to the point - it's clear and concise, exactly how my essays should be but rarely are. When I say it goes into so much detail I mean it, it even covers which glasses will fit your frame better and how to accessorise with bells! 

And guess what, it's only $99 (or $25 per month during four months) which I am more than willing to pay if it means I will be looking faaab for the rest of my life.

MY GO-TO HEALTHY BREAKFAST SMOOTHIE


I am a big fan of smoothies - breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack. Any time is a good time to have a smoothie. 

Whilst I try to mix it up and keep things interesting, I do have a go-to recipe which I have mastered with time and never fails when I am craving something sweet and refreshing. Don't worry, I won't be using any fancy or crazy expensive ingredient, they are all things you might already have or that you can easily find at any grocery store. 

Before I start I want to point out that I don't measure anything. I add more or less of something depending on the consistency I want and wether the blender is struggling to blend it all  (in which case I add more milk). 

This is what I use:


Vanilla almond milk (or any milk you like)
One banana
Frozen strawberries
Frozen blueberries
Frozen mango
Frozen kiwi
Frozen pineapple
Frozen kale
A dash of cinnamon


I personally love using vanilla almond milk as it adds some sweetness and flavour to it, which makes the smoothie so much better. I have tried using regular almond milk and I personally didn't like it, but you can also try other milks! 

For the frozen food you can either buy it fresh and freeze it yourself or buy packs of frozen fruit, which is what I do as it is much cheaper. I buy a pack of frozen blueberries and strawberries, and also a "smoothie pack" which has mango, kiwi, kale and pineapple. 

I am pretty sure everyone know how to make smoothies but in case you don't: put it all in a blender and blend blend blend! If it's struggling to mix, it's usually because you need to add more milk but that depends on how powerful the blender is. If you want something more filling, or maybe you're having a smoothie for lunch or dinner, try adding oats in it. It makes it very creamy and so filling!

MY SKINCARE FAVOURITES


I  recently wrote a post about my Winter Skincare Essentials, where I talked about my beloved face moisturiser by L'Oreal. Well, now I am here to talk about my love for L'Oreal skincare in general. 

A few months ago, when the winter cold hit London my skin was in desperate need for some love and that is when I started using face masks regularly. I first bought L'Oreal Pure Clay Detox Mask as I liked the sound of it and, being honest, because it is black and for some reason a black face mask looked more effective than a pink one to me. Leaving that not so clever reasoning aside, I had heard wonderful things about the Pure Clay range and it had been widely adverted since its launch so obviously I had to give it a try.

The Detox mask is meant to detoxify the skin by cleansing deep into the pores, leaving the skin looking clarified and beautiful without drying it out. It has charcoal in it that, apart from giving it that black colour, it acts as a magnet to draw out impurities. Using it regularly (once a week), I have noticed that my skin does look clearer and more homogeneous but I do find it a bit drying so I need to moisturise straight away after using it.


Recently, I decided to get another Pure Clay Mask - the Glow Mask. I have only used this one a few times but I already love it. It has small beads in it that help exfoliate the skin and the read algae helps your skin look brighter and glowy (which is goals). It's also less drying than the Detox Mask, so if you have very dry skin this one should be fine! 

Finally, let's talk about my all time favourite moisturiser. I'm going to keep it short and sweet because I have talked about it extensively in many other posts. Basically, if you have normal to dry skin and don't want to spend loads on a high-end moisturiser you need to try L'Oreal's Magic Blur

I really want to try their other mask from the Pure Clay range:  Purity Mask. But I think for now I am well-served with face masks before I get a new one!

4 COLOURS THAT WILL MAKE YOU HAPPIER



We all strive to have one thing in life, happiness.

Whether this is in the form of money, success, health, etc. We all want to be happy, it's our main aim. And whilst this word has a different meaning to everyone and is obtained through different things or actions, there are certain colours that can induce that emotion and can make you feel a bit happier.

Red


This colour is meant to give you more energy and stimulate liveliness, this obviously has an impact in your overall mood making you a bit happier. It's also been suggested that looking at that colour can increase your heart rate and blood pressure, so maybe don't paint your bedroom walk red if you wan to have a peaceful night! 

Blue


Blue is usually the colour of serenity, it can make you more relaxed and calm so helping with stress and anxiety. Unlike red, blue induces sleep so it would be a great colour for your bedroom! I really like the colour baby blue and often find myself buying room decor that is this colour... now I have an excuse to buy even more, amirite?

Pink

Pink is one of my favourite colours, I've noticed I always gravitate towards pink coloured things (apart from clothes, in which case black and white is all I wear) and having pink details in my room makes me happier and improves my mood. Apparently there's this thing called "the pink effect": pink, specially a shade known as Pepto Bismol, can make you feel more calm. 

White

Who doesn't love a clean bright white room, it gives a very zen vibe. It also makes the room seem less cluttered and more open, making it look bigger. I personally always tend to go for lighter colours, specially in my room, as I think it makes me feel more relaxed than if I have bright green walls for example.
